Sahwa Net- A study on Yemen were recently released showing that 56 percent of al-Qaeda members are Yemenis, 37 percent are Saudis and 7 percent are from other countries.
The study prepared by terrorism specialist, a Alistair Harris, considers Yemen on the brink, pointing out that al-Qaeda in Yemen pose an international and regional security challenge.
Harris found that Yemeni recruits were equally distributed between northern and southern tribes (52% and 48% respectively). The reason for this relatively equal distribution is that al-Qaeda's discourse finds a ready audience among tribal people, whether in the south or the north.
