Al-Qaeda kills top Yemeni General
Sahwa Net- A Major General Colonel, Mohammad Saleh al-Shaif, along with a bodyguard were killed in an ambush set by an al-Qaeda member on Saturday in Marib governorate while they were on their way to Safer area.
Tribal sources said tow other military officials were also injured in the attack, pointing out that the attacker is an al-Qeada operative in Marib, Hassan al-Aqli.
Meanwhile, a leader of al-Qaeda in Marib Qhalib al-Zaidi has surrendered himself to Yemen's authorities, sources told Sahwa Net on Saturday.
Al-Zaidi had been tried in December 2003 on charges of harboring an al-Qaeda operative Mohammad al-Ahdail in his home as Yemen's authorities were pursuing him.
A Yemeni court decided to release al-Zaid on financial guarantee in March 2006.
