Alsahwah.net- The General Secretariat of the Islah Party has expressed sorrow about the remarks of the US ambassador to Yemen Gerald M. Feierestein regarding Sheikh Abdul-Majeed Al-Zandani, a member of the Islah's Shoura Council.

Feirestein said  in an interview with a London-base newspaper, Al-Hiah, that al-Zandani poses a problem to the US as and the entire international community.

In a press release, the Islah Party said that the case of Al-Zandani was made up by the former regime, stressing that the media outlets of the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh's regime made up the case with the aim of political blackmailing.

"Even if the allegations were not completely made up by the former regime, the content of these allegations is based on misleading intelligence information provided by the regime" the statement added.

It affirmed its insistence to end the argument through knowing realities and bring them to legal tracks, voicing its refusal to use the case to blackmail the party and Al-Zandani.

The statement said that the case of Al-Zandani was discussed with many American officials, pointing out that the Islah Party expressed readiness to open the file of Al-Zanidan and that Al-Zandani himself expressed readiness to stand trial before a public national court.
