Alsahwah.net-At least 36 Al-Qaeda
militants were killed on Thursday during violent clashes between the army
backed by local tribesmen and Al-Qaeda militants in Zinjibar and Jaar.
He made it clear that air fighters
raided a village in Jaar, leaving two Al-Qaeda militants killed.
UPI quoted military sources as saying
that that 52 militants were killed and dozens others were wounded.
Sources said that eight troops were
seriously wounded,and did not give more
details about further loses.
The Defense Ministry said Thursday
that in its attack, the Yemeni military took control of Wadi Banaa Arab, near
the town of Jaar, another al-Qaida stronghold.
The Yemeni army recaptured parts of
the southern city of Zinjibar on Wednesday.
The advance of troops into the centre
and northern neighbourhoods of Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan province,
represents a new front in the government's offensive to reclaim areas seized by
insurgents in the south.
