Armed men impose siege on Radio, TV Institution

Alsahwah.net- Armed men affiliated to the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh prevented on Monday the new-appointed director of the state-run Radio and TV Institution, Eskandar Al-Asbahi, from entering its headquarters.

Al-Asbahi is a senior media practitioner who worked in several state media outlets as director and columnist.

Media sources said that two senior officials of the institutions Mohammad Al-Radami and Huessein Moqbil, coordinated with the armed men and forced Al-Asbahi to leave.

On February 2, the Sana'a office of the state-run daily Al-Thawra was surrounded by hundreds of armed men loyal to Saleh.

The men, including pro-regime journalists, were angered by the paper's decision to publish the newsppapr without Saleh's picture on the front page.

They encircled the building and forced the paper to print an issue with Saleh's image on Friday.
