Sanctions against Yemeni official discussed in Riyadh

Alsahwah.net- The UN special envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar are conducting consultations with Saudi King Abdallah Bin Abdel Aziz before imposing sanctions against those officials who impede the implementing of political settlement in Yemen.

Benomar arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Friday to conduct negotiations with the Saudi king and other officials regarding Yemen's situation and how to overcome  obstructions about the implementation of the GCC power transfer.

"Imposing sanctions on the armed groups used by Iran to impede the political transition remains within expected issues to be discussed," Akhbar Alyawam Newspaper said.

Benomar has presented  last Tuesday a report on Yemen's situation to the UN Security Council, which assured the democratic transition was on 'the right track', though concerns, mainly security ones, remain.

The report warned Yemenis affecting the transition from behind the scenes amid US and EU measures to sanction them.
