Security sources: Syrian diplomats involved in espionage ring
security sources have revealed that investigation conducted by the Yemeni
authorities with an Iranian espionage ring have revealed that Syrian diplomats
in Yemen were involved in an Iranian espionage ring.
A Kuwaiti newspaper, Alsyasya, has
quoted a Yemeni security official who asked anonymity said that a Syrian
diplomat is among nine-member spy ring that was arrested by the Yemeni
authorities last week.
It spelt out that Syrian diplomat
arranged meetings between the ring and Yemeni politicians and youths to recruit
them with Iran.
It said that the ring managed to
mobile 50 Yemeni academics to work for the favor of the Iranian regime and
spread the Shiite sect in Yemen.
well-informed sources Foreign Ministry has summoned a number of Iranian
diplomats in Sana'a, informed them that they are no longer desired in Yemen and
gave them an ultimatum of 72 hours to leave the state, the KuwaitiAl-Qabas
newspaper quoted Yemeni political sources.
Al-Qabas further said Yemen plans to
summon its ambassador in Tehran for consultations on grounds of finding out an
Iranian espionage ring operating in Yemen since seven years.
