Alsahwah.net- Eight persons were killed and scores several others were wounded in clashes around the Interior Mnistry between gunmen loyal to the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Security  sources said "large number" of people were also wounded in the fighting. It was not clear whether those killed were soldiers or tribesmen.

Gunmen surrounded the ministry last Sunday, demanding to be enrolled in the police department, and they were promised to meet their demands during two days.

Yemeni politicians and analysts accused Saleh of planning to disrupt the interim government , asserting that he operates to provoke internal divisions and disputes.

In an interview with the London-based Al-Sharaq Al-Awsat Newspaper, Al-Sarari cautioned that the GCC-mediated power transfer deal could be broken down, if Saleh continued in playing political roles.

He pointed out that Saleh was given immunity from prosecution under the GCC-mediated power transfer deal, emphasizing that he exploits the immunity to stir up troubles.
