UN Envoy: There is impediment against Yemen settlement
Alsahwah.net- UN Envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar has
remarked that recent developments in Yemen affirm that there is impediment attempts
against the political settlement and the GCC-mediated power transfer deal.
He asserted that the UN Security
council will take sanctions against any side seeking to break down Yemen's political
settlement.
He said that Yemen lose some $250,000,000
monthly due to the attacking of oil, gas and electricity lines, considering
such acts crimes against the Yemeni people as a whole.
He said that Yemen the fighting of
Al-Qaeda needs to achieve a progress in the political settlement, citing that Yemen
will have a new electoral system and competitive elections in the next phase.
He further called the Houthi group to
turn to a political party, cautioning against any bid to stir up violence.
Benomar's remarks came one day after
the storm against the Interior Ministry in which about a number of Yemeni
soldiers were killed and wounded as gunmen loyal to the former president Ali
Abdullah Saleh tried to take control on the ministry.
