The Deputy Minister of Interior Mohammed Mosa'ed said on Tuesday that al-Qaeda took advantage of last month's clashes in the interim capital to plan terrorist attacks against security officials.
In an interview Okaz daily, Mosa'ed said that the terrorist organization availed themselves of the chaos, referring to the confrontation that occurred between armed separatists loyal to Southern Transitional Council and the government forces in Aden at the end of January.
He said that al-Qaeda seized the chance to plan a number of terror attacks but most of them were foiled. Only one of them was carried out; the murder of Fahd al-Hakeemi a security officer in the city last Monday.
