Academics and staffs of four Yemeni universities on Sunday started strike in protest at not having their salaries paid for four months.
Sources of the Yemeni University Coordination Council said that the council took a decision to conduct a strike in nine universities, pointing out that only professors of four universities took part in the strike.
Professors of Sana'a University on Sunday wore red badges, stressing that they will continue a partial strike until Thursday and that they will escalate their demands to a comprehensive strike next Saturday.
After four months of not having their salaries paid, the Houthis who run Sana'a University and other institutions threatened academics with detention if they conducted a strike.
