Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi said on Saturday that "the military solution has become necessary" to resolve the standoff with the Houthi radical rebel fighters.

In an interview with al-Quds al-Arabi regional daily, al-Mekhlafi said "the world has become more understanding (of this necessity) because what we do is not just to restore the state but to salvage Yemen and the whole region from the evil of the rebel gang."

"We have offered a lot of concessions for peace but this group which killed its own partner in rebellion cannot be a real partner in peace, unless forced to accept peace.," he said.

He said that Yemen is opting for the choice of rallying all the national political actors behind the government and the Arab Coalition to liberate Yemen of this coupist guerilla."
