Abdulrazaq Al-Hajri, Head of the Islah Parliamentary Block met on Saturday 20 July 2019 German Ambassador to Yemen, Carola Müller-Holtkemper, in Berlin.
Al-Hajri and Holtkemper discussed Yemen developments and German support to reinstate the legitimate government.
Al-Hajri praised decade-long German support to Yemen at different development sides.
He noted that Yemen is in dire need to end the coup and reinforce state retrieval efforts from the rebels who jeopardize Yemen’s security and stability and turn Yemen into a source of threats to the region and the world.
He thanked efforts exercised by Germany for peace in Yemen and affirmed that real peace must be based on the three agreed references.
Al-Hajri has also highlighted human rights abuses by the Houthis rebels against Yemenis and their ongoing war against the people of Yemen in various provinces, a thing that exacerbates the humanitarian disaster in the country.
Al-Hajri who is also the chief of the Islah party members of the Yemen Parliament showcased the Houthis’ defiance to the Stockholm agreement that stipulated release of detainees. Yet, the Houthis ruled 30 detained political activists to death instead of setting them free in line to the Sweden-based agreement, according to Al-Hajri.
For her part, Holtkemper voiced her country’s rejection of the death sentence by the Houthis rebels against the confined political activists. She indicated that her country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Christoph Heusgen made clear on Thursday 18 July 2019 during briefing by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths to the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Yemen situation that the Houthis death sentencing of 30 activists is unacceptable and must be reversed.
She reaffirmed that her country is devoted to achieving peace in Yemen and remains ready to participate in development and humanitarian support to Yemen.
