The Yemeni government officially protested the meeting of the UN Special Envoy Esmail Ould Cheikh with people who were appointed by ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh as ministers.
Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mikhlafi told the government-run Saba News Agency that the meeting of Ould Cheikh with some people in Sana'a contradicted his obligations.
Ould Cheikh held a meeting with Hisham Sharaf who was appointed by Saleh as a foreign minister.
U.N. special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed arrived on Sunday in Sana’a where he is expected to meet with representatives from the Houthis and former president Ali Abdullah Saleh’s supporters as part of his tour to push Yemeni parties to accept the eighth ceasefire, ahead of reviving a new round of negotiations.
