Alsahwa Net-Muammar Al-Eryani, Minister of Information said that Iran has orchestrated the Houthis’ seizure of the South Korean ships in the Red Sea to distract the international attention on the anti-regime popular protests across Iran, the Yemeni state-run Saba News Agency reported.
The Houthis rebels seized on Monday three South Korean ships with their crew members and took them to shores of Kamarn Island in the Red Sea, the Yemeni government said on Monday.
Al-Eryani said that the act is “a terror operation and a dangerous escalation that threatens peace efforts in Yemen”.
He indicated that the act shows extent of threat caused by the continuous Houthis’ control of Hodeida and its ports on the Red Sea that imposes a threat on the maritime navigation and the world trade movement in the Red Sea.
He demanded the international community to take decisive actions against “this piracy that violates the international law.”
He also called on the international community to support the legitimate government to end the Houthis’ rebels’ threat on the world maritime routes.
