Alsahwa Net- Unidentified gunmen assassinated on Sunday’s morning Salah Hajili, an officer of the Criminal Investigation in Al-Mansora district of Aden.
Security sources said that the assailants who were on a motorbike, shot several bullets at the victim and fled the site.
Hajili survived an assassination attempt three years ago by an explosive device that was placed under his vehicle.
However, this time, he died instantly following direct shooting by the armed men.
Assassination of security officials, political and social figures have been raging in Aden and other southern governorates since the United Arab Emirates (UAE) established local militias known as the security belt forces in 2016.
The UAE handed its allied militias management of Aden and other key southern governorates who later led armed rebellion against the government forced by the UAE support.
They escalated their rebellion early last August by taking control of the state offices and government military bases in Aden.
Both of the UAE and Saudi Arabia started a military coalition in Yemen in March 2015 to restore the government and end the Houthis’ coup in the capital Sana’a.
Yet, the Saudi-led military intervention ended up with a new separation rebellion in Aden.
The government and the southern separation rebels signed on 5 November 2019 Al-Riyadh agreement, which is sponsored by Saudi Arabia to end the rebellion and restore the state of rule.
Yet, implementation of the agreement has not been taken yet as the city of Aden still under control of the UAE-affiliated separation rebels.
