Alsahwa Net- The Houthis carried out a new arrest-campaign against suspected dissidents in the capital Sana’a, local sources said.
The Houthis militants stormed a number of houses, shops and mosques in several quarters of the capital Sana’a, the Saudi state-run Okaz Daily Newspaper quoted local sources.
The sources said that the Houthis gunmen arrested a number of vehicles’ owners on Taiz Street, Haddah Streets and Al-Zubairi street for hanging photos of the former president Ali Saleh on memory of his death
Saleh was killed in early December 2017 when he attempted to defect from the Houthis’ coalition.
The sources added that the militants deployed several security men and women in campus of Sana’a university and pursued a number of students.
The Houthis’ authority instructed their affiliated officials to ban any assembly or marches and to even stop doing funeral marches of their dead fighters for one week in fear of popular uprising against their rule, the sources said.
The sources explained that relatives of the dead fighters have been gathering for two days at the Al-Kuwait Hospital in Sana’a to collect bodies of their relatives.
But the Houthis leaders declined to release bodies of the dead fighters for security reasons.
The Houthis recognized last Sunday arrest of a number of civilians including public servants affiliated to the General People Congress (GPC) and accused them of forming anti-Houthis cells and working for the legitimate government.
