Alsahwa Net- The Minister of Local Administration and chief of the Supreme Relief Committee, Abdulraqeeb Fath deplored on Wednesday diversion of the humanitarian aid by the Houthis for their “military effort”.
Fath demanded the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator to Yemen, Lise Grande and the World Food Program (WFP) to investigate delivery methods of the humanitarian aids and report findings to the government.
He called on the international humanitarian organizations to adopt mechanisms that secure non-diversion of the aids.
He indicated that the use of aid decentralization system, cash transfer programs and application of the fingerprint system will enable access to the needy households.
“The appearance of the aids -which were allocated for the most vulnerable groups – in hands of the Houthis’ fighters confirms what the Supreme Relief Committee stated several times on diversion of the aid by the Houthis for their military effort,” Fath said.
“This requires clarification and condemnation by the UN,” he said.
He called on the international agencies to increase food rations for the most extremely poor households.
