Alsahwa Net-Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, said on Wednesday that the government is determined to thwart attempts of division and maintain security and stability.
He said that the separatists which are known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC) responded with military escalation and rebellion towards concessions made by the government to the STC.
The STC’s declaration of self-rule of south Yemen late last April, drove the government to mobilize its forces towards Abyan and Aden to end the rebellion.
Al-Eryani said that the government dealt responsibly with the Al-Riyadh agreement to prevent armed confrontations in Aden and support Saudi efforts at unifying efforts to counter the Iran-backed Houthis.
Yet, the STC understood this as an indication of weakness and persisted its unilateral actions that complicated the scene and confused the government and Saudi-led efforts, Al-Eryani said.
“The STC’s action provided free favors to the Houthis and Iran and represented a traitorous stab against the national army and the popular resistance that is engaged in open and decisive confrontations with [the Houthis] militia in Marib, Al-Jouf and Al-Baidha fronts” said Al-Eryani.
He said that the government’s determination “to implement Riyadh agreement will not deter its commitment to assume its responsibility to protect Yemen’s security, stability and its territorial integrity.”
He added that the government is determined to “confront the coup and chaotic attempts to divide Yemen.”
