Yemen Government welcomes US sanctioning of two Houthi leaders

Yemen’s government has welcomed the US imposed sanctions on two senior leaders in the Houthi militia. The country’s foreign ministry said, “The Houthi militia’s decline of the invitation to peace [talks] and and continued enforcement of the Iranian regime’s agenda … is what has prolonged the war and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the country.”

The government called on the international community to exercise more pressures on the militia “to stop their criminal conduct and constant aggression against civilians in Marib and other regions in Yemen.”

The United States imposed sanctions on Mansur Al-Sa’adi and Ahmad ‘Ali Ahsan al-Hamzi” two Houthi militants for their responsibility in “orchestrating attacks … impacting Yemeni civilians, bordering nations, and commercial vessels in international waters.”
