YJS calls for ending Houthi war on press

Alsahwa Net- The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) has renewed its demands to release all Yemeni journalists detained by the Iran-backed Houthi militias while the spread of Covid 19 epidemic.
On the World Press Freedom Day, which coincides May 3, YJS held the Houthi militias responsible for not releasing the Yemeni journalists through swapping them with war prisoners.
Yemeni rights groups, journalists and activists on Sunday launched an online campaign demanding to release Yemeni journalists held in Houthi prisons.
This campaign, which lasts three days, coincides with the World Press Freedom Day, May 3rd. It aims to enhance free expression of opinion and a free press.
Last year, the Houthi group sentenced four journalists to death; these journalists are Abdel-Khaleq Amran, Akram al-Walidi, Hareth Hamid and Tawfiq al-Mansouri.
These four journalists were arrested along with six other journalists in raids in the capital, Sana’a, in the summer of 2015, shortly after the Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen’s war.
