UN Envoy arrives Kuwait to revive Yemeni talks


The UN Special Envoy to Yemen Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed is meeting with Kuwaiti officials in attempt to convince them to adopt a new round of Yemeni talks, The Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) said on Sunday

It affirmed that the Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah met with Ould Cheikh, stressing that his country supports all efforts exerted by the UN Envoy to restore security and stability across Yemen.

It cited that both sides discussed Yemen's updates and international efforts aimed at finding a political settlement to crisis.

The Saudi Okaz newspaper said that the UN Envoy seeks to raise an inclusive plan on the negotiation table with the aim of setting a mechanism which are in line with the three terms of references, the UN resolutions on Yemen, the GCC-brokered Initiative and outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference.
