Houthi landmines continue to kill and wound civilians since 2015

A woman was killed in the explosion of a Houthi-laid landmine Yemen's eastern Marib governorate on Thursday, local sources have said.

Moqbela Ali Al-Sawmali, 19, was herding goats in Murad Mountain district in in the south of Marib when she stepped on the landmine, the sources said. The day before two other civilians were critically wounded in the explosion of a Houthi landmine in Almotoon district at the neighboring Aljawf governorate.

Houthi landmines have been killing and wounding civilians on a close to daily basis since 2015 without any authority or organization keeping count of the ever rising casualty toll. Government and independent sources estimate that Houthis have planted more than two million landmines in different parts of the country. Another atrocity that the Houthi terrorists continue to practice is sniper shooting of civilians in the besieged city of Taiz since 2015 as well.
