Switzerland expresses readiness to host Yemeni negotiations

April 26, 2017- Switzerland's Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter has stated that his country is ready to host Yemeni peace negotiations between the Yemeni government and the Houthi-Saleh militias.

In a press conference, Burkhalter reiterated of a ceasefire is reached, the peace talks between Yemeni sides may be resumed, pointing out that Switzerland is ready to host them if it is requested.

He further stressed the importance of the meeting which was held Wednesday in Geneva on the humanitarian response plan for Yemen, thanking all the participants.

" This meeting showed that we have not forgotten the people of Yemen" he added.

UN Secretary General has Antonio Gutteres has affirmed that Yemen needs over $2 billion for humanitarian assistances, pointing out that Yemen's conflict will be resolved through a political settlement.

U.N. officials say the world's largest humanitarian crisis is in Yemen, where 17 million people are classified as food insecure, with 7 million of those facing critical food shortages.
